If you’re depressed, feeling hopeless, or just can’t figure
out how to organize your life, you should take advantage of the Counseling
Center (Lib 422) which is free to all QCC students: http://www.qcc.cuny.edu/counseling/index.html.
You don't have to be depressed to see a counselor at the counseling center. You might just need someone to talk to. It's free (in fact, you've already paid for it w/ your student activity fees) and you can just walk in if you're on campus and think about it. I've gone to therapy on and off for over twenty years. When I'm stressed or depressed it's one of the best things that have helped. (Exercise, eating right, and the proper amount of sleep aren't bad either.) If you're stressed, it's probably b/c you're busy and if you're busy you'll say "I don't have time to see a counselor." But if you make the time, just fifty minutes, the act of making the appointment or going up to the fourth floor of the library will make you feel better.
i always think that you should have good friends in life because when you have stress and they know how the support you, you will smile even a lot of thing going on in your life. if they say good thing that make you happy. i have a best friend too he always support me no matter what. if i have problem he always their.
ReplyDeleteIn the essay "dr j" I believ the theme of the essay is death. And coming with age. I believe this because the girl says to her father she never wants him to die. And then in the next section her fathers dad dies. And he goes to India to burn him. But its all has to do with age. One day he will pass, like his father did when he turns the right age.
ReplyDeleteBeing stress can be a major downfall for some people. However, you can't let stress overcome you, talking to the people you really care about; such as your best friend or someone in your family can help you get over that mountain. Most importantly you can't overload yourself with work, school and other things. You need some time for yourself, otherwise you become stress because you can't manage everything in one take.
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm stress and I have a lot in my mind what I usually do is go out with friends and have a drink that really help me. Because by drinking I'm able to talk about my problems and what is going on in my life. Once I do that I fell in peace. I'm not saying that alcohol is the solution for stress. But just a drink and go out with close friends it really help to clean your mind
ReplyDeleteStress is physiological. I have a lot going in my life right now more then most people in school since I’m on the older side. A lot of people tell me I do a lot and they surprised I don’t have grey hair. Honestly I rarely stress because it not going to change anything. I just go with the flow and see what happens. I guess I also have that attitude since I been in the military 9 years and seen some horrible things happen, whatever I go through I always say it could be worst. That doesn’t work for everyone I know, sometimes talking to someone helps. A lot of my friends y’all suffer from PTSD and counseling really brought them a long way, well that and a bottle of honey jack amoung soldiers.
ReplyDeleteI love your attitude, and keep it going, I agree that worst thing could happen as you grow older, therefore just move on and do what you suppose to do.
DeleteStress is a very important issue and can make people feel depress. I think by taking mental breaks and spending time with people who make you happy can help free your mind and make you feel relax
ReplyDeleteI agree with Johnny in the way of relieving stress. Prior to this job I was a bartender so whenever stress came up, I was a shot of whiskey away of calming my nerves. The only issue I have with alcohol coping is that it is easy to become dependent on drinks to deal with stress. It is an issue several friends of mine have now. It is a way to cope but may not be the healthiest.
ReplyDeleteI feel like every people have stress, but if they can go through their stress they will grow up automatically, I think of stress as a lesson, some point in my life time I will go through my stress. I also find out that people around us often helped you out when you needed them, therefore darkness won't always be beside you, moved on and do what you suppose to do. You will solve the problem when time passed.
ReplyDeleteI guess stress is one of the worst feeling anyone have to deal with. When people are in stress he/ she cannot focus on anything which can lead to depression or other mental health problem. I think the best way to get relief from it is to share with someone close to you. Not to think time and again. Getting help from friends or family.
